After my first cable stopped working, I was extra cautious with the second. The computer stopped charging completely and I was hoping the cable just failed again so I ordered another one but this time it didn't fix the problem. I think what actually happened was that I accidentally plugged the USB cable back into the charging port. I don't recall being particularly rude, and there shouldn't be enough power for that. The main reason was that the PD104 ESD diode on my motherboard had burned out, so the circuitry was wrong to force the charger to output 20V instead of 5V. Lenovo made a huge mistake trying to be nice to its charger so it could use a USB charger or laptop charger. Just plug in a charging port there and don't mix it with a USB port, especially when accidentally plugging a USB device in the reverse direction will result in the computer not being fully charged. If I wasn't EE/CE it would probably force me to replace the entire motherboard or buy a new laptop.
