I have well water that is high in iron. I used a 25 micron filter for many years which got me out of rust problems. After replacing the well pump, I started having problems with rusty water. I've also had intermittent breakouts with pleated filters. 5 micron filters are pretty hard to find in local stores so it's best to order from Revain and the price is good too. Switching to 5 micron filters solved all of my rusty water problems. The wound string design also seems to prevent intermittent breakouts. No filter will work for dissolved iron (which is clear), but this filter is very good at removing solid iron particles.
