Review on Bright Guard Adjustable Bruxism Mouth Guard - Improved Sleep Aid for Nighttime Use (Version 2.0) by Kathy Jones

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Definitely pros and cons

Edit*** I had to stop using it. He was so big and stocky that he strained my jaw, made me clench my teeth and my bite was broken the entire time I was awake. This has made malocclusion a sustainable q trend. I stopped wearing it. It took 3 days for my bite to return to normal. I am really disappointed. I struggle with this rating. Did it shut me up? Yes. I have snorelab app records and the difference is noticeable. I bought it because I wanted to stay in a hotel with my sisters and I was afraid I would make them snore loudly. I started using it a week before the trip to get used to it. It worked. I am still using it now 3 weeks later for my husband who has been very patient with my snoring for the past few years. I've tried nasal strips, tongue suckers, nasal dialyzers. None worked before. It does. It took me 3 nights to find the right bite adjustment that drowned out my snoring. I started from scratch and snored as usual. At 6 I no longer snore. Pros: This device works. It s cheap. Cons: It's BIG and LOADS. Upper and lower front teeth hurt at night. I notice it when I wake up to turn over or go to the bathroom. The next morning my jaw hurts a little for several hours while trying to move back into its normal position without snacks. Breakfast doesn't hurt, but it's a bit uncomfortable because my jaw muscles haven't normalized yet. I am very excited about this device. It fixed my snoring so I'm so happy about it. I get more restful sleep. My husband sleeps better without my noise. But I don't know if the compromise is worth it. I find this unnecessarily cumbersome. If you have a really big mouth, you will sleep with your mouth open. You just can't close your lips to him while he's resting. Toothache and jaw discomfort in the morning worries me that I could be the cause of future tooth and TMJ problems. Next time I'll show it to the dentist. He can scold me for messing with my mouth like that and offer me a $700 professional quality replacement that I certainly can't afford. Can I recommend this product? Yes and no. I probably shouldn't be using it (it's 2pm and my jaw still hurts a little), but I love not snoring and feeling more rested.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No auto steering
