Almost all metal except for some parts of the tensioner. Great solid footrest and very solid with one issue. The connection that controls the monitor's tilt is loose and difficult to tighten enough to prevent a large-screen device or device with some weight from sagging and sliding over time. I use a 22 inch monitor that only weighs 4-6 pounds and even that wanted to slide off at first. I tightened the connection almost to the point where I thought it would break and it seems to hold, but large or heavy screens can be an issue. Don't get me wrong, it's a good stand, comes with all the hardware to mount the device, feels and weighs pretty solid, and assembles in minutes. That's just the hinge is weak.
