First time great. that doesn't work well

When we first got it, we loved it! And highly recommended. Having light is also very nice. However, after a while we had to fiddle with it to make it grind the peppers. don't fill in too much. Tilt it sideways 45 degrees during use. If all else fails, flip it upside down and then back to the front, try to grind, repeat, repeat. It says it has a 1/4 cup (4 Tbsp) capacity, which isn't really a lot if you like cooking with peppers, but I also remember only filling 3/4 full. I don't know where I got this from. In addition, to open the spice compartment, you only need to pull the motor / battery component - with force. The only thing holding it together are 2 small plastic tabs. Just waiting for them to break. ?!?! (It has a lifetime warranty, but that looks like poor design.) When you put it back together, make sure it's lined up correctly - the 2 clips plus the 2 black pins and the 2 metal pins should line up. The metal pins can bend, so be careful. On the plus side, the imprint ("epare" and arrows showing battery compartment open/close orientation) rubs off easily if you want it to look clean. We received one as a family gift and it was defective when it arrived - the company replaced it straight away (although they sent the silver when we bought the more expensive copper). [NOTE: Do not open by tilting as it looks in my picture. Pull straight up. This image is just to show where the clips go]

Pros
  • EASY TO FILL: We've fitted our grinder with a 1/4 cup clear acrylic container so you can check the spice level. We've also added a rubber dust cap to the base of the grinder to keep your spices fresh and off the table.
Cons
  • Unfashionable
