For the price this thing is pretty cool. Lots of nostalgia for old NES games. Feels like a game boy but much lighter. The small rechargeable battery offers plenty of playtime (USB charging cable included) so unlike older Gameboys it doesn't burn through AA batteries. Is that the best built thing? no Is it worth $25 old childhood nostalgia? Absolutely! My 9 year old son loves it, keeps asking for games. He thinks old games are fun. The screen is good for old graphics. It's big enough to see what's going on and the colors are clear and good. If you hook it up to a big HDTV (VGA cable included), the horrible graphics (that were the 80s!) go full screen. Connecting to a TV is pretty much useless. Not only is the HD graphics bad, but the lag makes the game almost impossible to play. What's even worse is the 2ft cable they give you to connect your games console to your TV, unless you're happy standing a few feet in front of a big screen to play. If you intend to hook it up to a TV, discard this little thing. Just use it as a fun portable game for its intended purpose! The default controller that comes with it only works in games for player 2. Never could get it to work for player 1. Not the end of the world, but a disappointment. In any case, the controls are hard and cheap on a standard controller. On the device itself, the controls are good and responsive. Keep in mind that you can't save your progress in any game, although most of those old-school games did anyway. It's not really 400 games as there are multiple replays. . Lots of well-known old fun favorites, as well as lots of weird games I've never heard of before (probably Chinese or Japanese games not originally available in the US...?). The games are not categorized or arranged alphabetically. You just have to scroll through them one by one.
