Discreet hitch lock; However, none of them are really safe.

This Master Lock is one size fits all. The #389DAT hitch lock is good money on the hitch and will likely deter around 90% of would-be thieves. It starts easily, locks securely and locks the hitch area so someone can't just drive up to your trailer, hitch it up and pull it away. However, the more you delve into those clutch locks, the murkier things start to look when it comes to fending off the other 10% of desperate thieves. Even seemingly secure locks are surprisingly easy to pick with a crowbar and a lever. So if someone wants to steal your pendant, they're probably done for. As such, I strongly recommend that you use this lock in conjunction with storing your trailer in a highly visible, well-lit area. Therefore, most thieves do not want to be seen working with a crowbar. If you need something more secure, you'll be looking at highly specialized hitch locks, which weigh a lot and also cost upwards of $250. Some of these constructions not only look much more robust, but are also designed in such a way that it is much more difficult to get between the lock and the trailer drawbar. Among the options available, this is one of the best trailer locks I've come across. in this price range. If you're looking for a simple deterrent for random thieves, this is probably the way to go. But then again, I would use it in conjunction with storing your trailer in a prominent place.

Pros
  • We CANNOT lock two (2) of these locks with the same key. Similar 379KA clutch locks are available with the same key. The only difference between this (389DAT) and 379KA is the color.
Cons
  • Obsolete
