As with many people who drive a Saturn ION, this part is the most likely cause if you have bad or broken wipers. An internet search will bring up many of the other videos and stories from people with similar problems, and the Dorman part is just the OEM replacement you need. My windshield wipers worked perfectly and on a rainy day they suddenly just wiped and then wouldn't go off. , or it wipes too far and the driver's side wiper completely detaches from the windshield and I literally have to stop and get out of the car to put the wiper back on the windshield properly. It is clear that this is dangerous and must be corrected as soon as possible. So a very smart team of GM/Saturn engineers decided that we should save pennies and use plastic to make the wiper assembly. This was of course a problem, my wiper assembly had the plastic parts completely sheared off and broken, the wiper gear literally fell apart when I had to replace it about 2 weeks after I started having problems. This dorman is made of high quality metal, beautiful, shiny and new. Installation is very easy thanks to videos and instructions online. If you're a DIYer, it took about 45 minutes for a beginner like me. I ended up with the wrong initial alignment with the wipers going down first then up so I pulled them out a few times to check everything so I can now pull them fully out in literally 5 minutes. But now that I've installed it properly, I doubt I'll ever have to worry about my wipers.
