Not really worth it

So I bought a cleaning mat because I have a small child and the rug next to my dining table is full of crumbs and rice and they call it a rug. Every time I tried to use this product the refill fills up in a second and it doesn't really collect everything so I still have to collect manually. I mean the idea sounds great but it needs to be more efficient as a product and why is the refill pack really that small?
