I realized I took a chance buying this waffle maker after seeing the bad reviews. I hoped to be one of the lucky ones. I love the Easter waffle maker I have but wanted more versatility. I thought I'd try. Under $30, why not?! Oh no! When I plugged it in and waited ages for it to heat up, I smelled something that smelled like burning chemicals. Smoke rose from the car. Don't smoke oil or anything for cooking because I haven't done anything on it yet. I connected to make sure it works. He smoked inside. My house smelled like a chemical plant. Whew, and there was no way my family would eat any of this poisonous fire hazard. Other cons. Removable plates appear to have a non-stick coating that will flake off over time. A cheap chemical non-stick coating that stays on your food. You all know what I'm talking about - there is no temperature setting and it takes forever to heat up. Forget comfort. Advantages. Removable panels. push button. It's not worth it. Great for people who liked it but I'm sure if they did an update they would have a different opinion. There's no way this thing is going to last the way it's made. If it works well when you first get it, I don't think it will be good for long. Shame on you, Black and Decker! I expect a little more from such a renowned company! Item returned for a refund. BUT YOU COULD TRY, LIKE ME. YOU MIGHT BE LUCKY. OR YOUR HOUSE COULD FIRE! BLACK AND DEKER 🙄👎🏼
