Review on Lucas Oil 10682 Marine Grease by Mike Travers

Excellent Saltwater Lube

I'm a longtime Lucas fan who has had great results with their greases and lubes. I've been using their Red & Tacky lube for years but wanted to try this marine lube as work requires me to ride in brackish water several times a week which is bad for my gimbals. So far I'm very happy with the performance, mainly because I've noticed less fat loss in the gimbal end caps upon inspection. My problem is so severe that I actually check my gimbals at least twice a year. Personally, I'm afraid of gimbal failure which could result in the driveshaft falling off which could tip the truck over if the front gimbal fails. My last failure, they were so corroded that the roller pin bearings completely disappeared from the 2 caps. My take on the 3oz size comments. These tubes are designed for very small applications and sized accordingly. Manufacturers don't fill large tubes 100% either, so it's no wonder they're not full. I like this size because I find it easier to handle a small gun when smearing crosses than large guns. The tubes fill the same as similarly sized Minitube competitors and I'm happy with the convenience of this size. Lucas offers large tubes and tubs when needed, but that's my preference. I like going under my truck to lubricate the universal joints without having to jack up the truck and rotate the driveshaft to get to the circulation fittings. A small gun makes this job easier.
