I compared this to a Killerspin Jet 100, a less expensive paddle, and the more similarly priced Stiga Pro Carbon. Both the Stiga and Joola are slightly heavier paddles with slightly thicker blades. Joola, with its red/black rubber, looks similar to the Stiga. The Killerspin utilizes green/black rubbers. Spins have more vigor with both the Stiga and the Joola. I found the Joola to be ever so slightly better, but this may simply be the result of my Stiga paddle being a year old whereas the Joola is brand new. Build quality of the Joola is excellent; feel in the hand is identical to that of the Stiga. If this is your first more expensive paddle, you'll immediately notice the extra half ounce or so in hand, but you'll be used to that by the end of a few days of use. If you play rarely - basement play with the kids now and then - the Killerspin Jet 100 will save you some money and provide you with adequate spin and play ability. If you are more competitive, however, and want to show off technique and skill, the Joola 300 will provide capabilities not present in the less expensive paddle - stronger curves, better backspin, and so forth.
