I didn’t want to buy without VHF, but other models are not at all suitable for the role of “grandmother-receiver”, I had to compromise ((. And very expensive, but they don’t save on relatives. But I wouldn’t take one myself. A rather controversial device, I recommend it for purchase only after careful consideration. I know what I'm writing about, because at work MAX-332, at MIRU's dacha, at home HYPER RETRO L and Inscabin P200.
- I, like many, bought a receiver for the older generation, so the advantages and disadvantages from the point of view of the "grandmother-receiver" 1. Premium design against the backdrop of poor Chinese handicrafts. Concave sidewalls, high-quality glossy plastic. The antenna inspires: thick, smooth extension without backlash. Beautiful buttons. Plexiglas display, amber backlight. High-quality assembly without cracks. 2. Excellent ergonomics - Large thick receiver, convenient to take. Stable, difficult to tip over, especially if it contains batteries + rubber feet - large buttons, the distance between them is large, good for old hands. When you press the buttons, it does not tip over. Soft, smooth touch - simple logic. Turned it on with the power button. Selected a station with one of the memory buttons. everything, nothing else needs to be done. Switching from FM to USB with one button, there are more options, but still easy and understandable - convenient USB. Grandma listens to music from flash drives. USB is on top, not somewhere hidden on the side, on a flat, large empty surface. It is easy to insert, it is impossible to break anything. When carrying a flash drive does not cling to anything. - the receiver remembers what worked the last time and turns on this particular mode 3. Works well, i. E. - good clean reception - very decent sound, not Hi-Fi, but sounds good. 4. Mechanical volume control, at what level it turned off, at this level it will be the next time it is turned on 5. Does not wheeze at high volume, the older generation likes to listen loudly. Smoothly adjustable, there is no short wheel travel, the desired volume is easily set 6. Switching to the clock mode when working, and showing the clock when turned off is important for pensioners, they have everything by the clock, taking medication, TV, etc. 7. Battery powered. The built-in battery will someday die, and how to change it is another question. Bought Varta batteries. They are very light, it looks like there is AA in an empty D-size case. The screen shows the status of the batteries, it is clear when to recharge 8. The power connector is a round thick plug, it is convenient to insert it in any position
- 1. NO VHF. Let me clarify. I called several stores dealing with Sangean, they explained everything - there was VHF, but it was removed 4-5 years ago. Now all new receivers without VHF, it is impossible to buy with VHF. Why? Not interested in the market, small deliveries. I bought a receiver in 2022, manufactured on 07202222, and there is no longer a VHF (( A huge drawback for the “grandmother-receiver”, since some ancient stations for pensioners broadcast in VHF. For me personally, it may not be a problem to listen to classic FM, but Here pensioners in FM do not have enough thematic stations. 3. Very expensive, very overpriced receiver. There is nothing there, no built-in battery, only plastic, display and speaker, well, it's not worth 7700! Well, it's not worth it! 4. For the sake of design, they made a cone-shaped and short volume knob, which is inconvenient for old hands, at least they made a corrugation (( 5. Useless AM, no one broadcasts there, found one station in the entire range, which you can hardly listen to through crackling and hissing. 6. Not Russified 7. When the 220V power supply is connected, the batteries in the battery compartment do not charge (if any are used, but I just use them) 8. Buttons without illumination, but they could do it! 9. No carrying handle. 10. Even for grandmothers, for whom there are few suitable FM stations, 5 memory buttons are not enough, the front panel is so large that you can easily place another row of buttons, it would be 10, this is just right. 11. And of course, the transition between stations is implemented in an idiotic way. For normal devices, when autoscanning, the cells are filled and then you switch between the cells with the ">>" and "<<" keys. There are no cells here, stupidly you need to press the scan every time or manually with the tuning arrows. This is wildly inconvenient for those who, according to their mood, listen to different stations from different ends of the range. It’s all the same for my grandmother, she only listens to 5 radio stations on the buttons, but I wouldn’t buy a receiver with such an implementation of the transition.
