Review on ๐Ÿพ Convenient PetSafe Pet Screen Door for Screen Door, Window, and Porch Use - Perfect for Dogs and Cats by Rebecca Smith

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Would have given 5 stars with minor changes

This is a very promising product. Unfortunately, some of them were very cheap in terms of material, which greatly reduces the quality of the product. First, locks are useless. They're tiny plastic pins that break easily and don't even slide out far enough to latch the door well. Our 5kg puppy walked straight through the 'locked' door as if he wasn't even there. The plastic pins on top that allow the door to swing back and forth are thicker, but can easily break if a dog runs full steam through the door. If the pins were metal at the top and bottom, the door would be much stronger. I wanted to replace the broken locking pins at the bottom of the door with metal pins, but I was afraid that if the bottom pins held up when the dog walked in, the top ones would just snap. The problem is that it doesn't install well. I tested it on our old screen first to see how it performed as I was planning to replace our screen with a thicker, pet resistant screen. It snapped easily to our old screen. We locked it, and the first time the dog ran through the locked door, the outer part flew away. and then the inside fell off. Pretty useless. Before installing the new screen, I tried locking the door above it. With a thicker screen, the door will not fit at all. I realized I would have to drill holes and actually use nuts and bolts to hold it in place. Once I installed the new screen and attached the door, screwed it down and also used a dab of glue to really hold it in place, it actually works pretty well. However, without modifications, it will likely be useless for most people. If the company wants to hire me as a consultant. I can show you how to turn this product into a flimsy piece of shit.
