Review on πŸ“Š Garmin Index S2: Advanced Smart Scale with Wireless Connectivity for Precise Body Measurements and Insights by John Rocha

Functional, thoughtful design

I'm glad I finally switched to a smart scale. There are several, but I chose Garmin because I'm already connected to the Garmin Connect ecosystem, so it instantly syncs and stores all my data. Makes the training more informative. One downside is that while these scales include carpet feet, they just don't work well on carpets. If this is your plan, you'll need a stable, hard surface to place over the carpet and under the scale. Luckily I have a spare bathroom that I don't use often so I just put it on the floor. Just make sure it's level because it's accurate and if it's out of balance it can give erroneous readings. It can also be a little finicky when it's on, or it'll behave like a weird hourglass at times and then turn off again. I think the hourglass is a rebalance script in which it evaluates stability and sets it to zero. So it's not as quick as just jumping on the scale. But I can send the data I need directly to Garmin Connect in less than 1 minute, so that's exactly what I need.

Pros
  • Battery life: up to 9 months; uses 4 AAA batteries (included)
Cons
