About once a month I play tenor saxophone in a cover band. I didn't expect this mic to make a huge difference, but it did. Personally, I was tired of being limited to a regular mic and wanted to be able to move more without having to adjust my mic stand every time. I don't know much about audio equipment either, but I know Shure's reputation and think it's a fair price. It sounds amazing for the price and definitely outperforms my previous setup. I was initially hesitant between wired and wireless, but due to the price difference, I decided to go with wired. Although limited by the cable, I can still move about with enough length for my needs. If there are other saxophonists who don't know sound engineering, then this wired condenser microphone needs phantom power. This comes at an additional cost (less than $20 for cheap phantom power) if it's not built into your mixer. I've seen myself with this microphone for a long time. I would highly recommend it to any saxophonist who wants the best sound quality with mobility on stage.
