I didn't buy them for hiking but they are great for that. The reason I decided to do this is because my daughter came home with two young children, her children were born in Texas and have been living in Oklahoma for the past few months. The kids don't know what Midwest winters are like, and I wanted something that would keep their feet warm but not uncomfortable because they both prefer to go barefoot all the time. I chose the best socks I could make for it. These socks are thick but not too thick so they don't feel uncomfortable in shoes like some winter socks. They are thick enough to keep my feet warm in a shoeless home as most of my floor is tile. I like that they support the arch of the foot and that they are stretchy but not overpowering. And don't forget, these are just fun socks! with little designs on it, what little kid wouldn't love it! They also come in handy on autumn nights when camping and fishing. I'm happy with these socks, the boys love them. and I highly recommend them!
