This is decent quality with good compression. The waist seems a bit higher than in the photo, but I think that's a good thing (no one wants a weird roll right through the belly). I didn't have a problem with the waistband or leg roll even though I've only worn it under skirts. The fabric is thick and not see through but the texture of the fabric reminds me of underwear and I don't think I would wear them separately. Also keep in mind that the hem of the legs is a bit "kick". It's a nicely finished hem, but I found that the contours of the hem came out more when worn under thinner skinny pants (not straight jeans, but not leggings either). It didn't hit my feet or anything, it was just a small lump from the very edge. If you don't wear this under your clothes (or at least not very appropriate, thinner clothes) it's not a problem. A nice thick hem actually makes it more comfortable IMHO. Definitely good for the price!
