An excellent crockery set! The top and bottom are plastic (no glass) and are made from BPA-free plastic, making them food safe. I love the fact that not only are they airtight and dishwasher safe, but they are also microwave safe! Remember to open the lid in front of the microwave oven for ventilation. Since they are plastic, frost resistant. Will not crack or break like glass. Lids are easy to open and close, and side latches ensure a snug, snug fit, keeping food fresh and preventing spills. Each lid has a rubber seal that I like to remove and clean every few washes to avoid mold or buildup. The set contains 14 pieces and 14 identical caps. The design is made so that after storage they can be stacked inside once, which is great because it saves a lot of closet space. They fold together during assembly, but easily slip off each other. The ridges on the lids don't quite line up, allowing them to stack when packing leftovers or preparing food in the fridge. Remember, they're also great for storing kibble in the pantry!
