I bought these hig-top shoes after reading dozens of reviews on a variety of shoes. I like the look and the clean lines. But I found the shoes are a bit tight for my liking. The velcro strap will helpfully keep you shoestrings from untying (if you put the "rabbit ears" under the velcro). What is annoying is trying to tie your shoes and need to fight with the velcro for the shoestring it greedily grabs hold of.I need high-tops to help keep a shortened foot in the shoe (else the shoe stays put as I walk out of it, unknowingly leaviing it behind). These shoes are perfect on their own, but trying to use the orthotic it becomes difficult to attach the device securely (probably true for all higher than normal "tops.") The insoles are thick and comfortable. They also easily remove for those who like a lower shoe.Overall, these shoes are a nice fit, look terrific, and are versatile. On the con side, there is not the stiffness, and thus the stability, found in most high-tops (ankle support). Needing to take out the insole for the clipped foot makes walking feel like going barefoot. Unless you like that feeling, stick to the added insoles.
