Review on Contemporary Loloi Justina Blakeney X Malik Collection Accent Rug In Graphite And Fiesta Shades, 2'X5' by Wendy Owens

Looks even better on the floor than I thought it would!

I have to admit, when I took this out of the box and saw it for the first time, I had a moment of regret. It was thinner than I thought and the colour was a lot more washed out than I thought it would be. I'd say 'faded rose' would be a good description. My place is a lot more masculine, so I was worried it would fight my dark green sofas and aluminum side tables. Once it was spread out on the floor, I liked it a lot better than I thought I would.Having said that, this would likely go best with bohemian (boho) decor . it would favour light/airy and light/weathered woods. It is certainly pink . and it has an intentionally faded/washed out look. If you want vintage chic, you'll get it here.I looked through the other patterns and am glad I chose this one. It looks more like an oriental rug than the others, which were a little too rustic for my taste. However, after seeing how it blended into even more masculine decor, I will say . this designer knows her stuff!Know that this will be lighter looking than you might expect in a faded sort of way. It's also lightweight . which is good because it easily rolls up and is easy to move for dusting, air drying or decorating. The downside is, it looks a bit thin and 'burlappy' up close. Almost like what the backside of a plush, expensive oriental rug looks like.Overall, I'm glad I ordered this because, like 'The Dude' says . a good rug really ties the room together. With the right type of style . this will look like it's out of House Beautiful magazine. One concern I do have is the plastic wrap that covered it seems to have turned bright orange . and a piece of paper in the box also has orange 'rub off' on it. I do worry about ink transfer onto whatever is placed on it . especially light coloured socks, fur beanbags and maybe even light hardwood floors. Maybe its unfounded concern but I didn't like the look of the plastic wrap that covered it during shipment.

Pros
  • Gives a room a designer look.
Cons
  • The rug may be prone to fraying or unraveling over time
