I got this for my daughter's school picture and it was perfect. The shoulders are wide enough to be school-appropriate and over all it is a very cute dress but the necklace did break (thankfully that was after her photo was taken). The necklace is attached at the shoulder seams and does not go around the back. The only problem now is that when she wears the dress, you can see that there used to be something attached at the shoulders, but that can easily go concealed with a cardigan or sweater. It does look bare with out the necklace, which added a nice contrast to the outfit as a whole. Hem lies about mid-to-lower calf and the detail in the skirt is beautiful.
