Household voltage in Japan is 100V while in USA it is 110-120V which I brought from Japan many years ago, ended up being a seething sake attitude nonetheless. The current sake heater is much better BUT the instructions are only in Japanese. They contain a table of temperatures (in Celsius) at different settings. I've measured the actual surface temperature of sake at each setting, and from my measurements, sake tends to get (and stay) about 10 degrees Celsius warmer than their chart shows. (See photo for actual numbers.) The maximum is 60 in Japan and 70 in the US. as I measured. Honestly, most Americans, probably like us, will use the medium setting and just enjoy warm sake without worrying about the details. While there is an on/off indicator on the front, the switch itself is on the back of the device. So if it stays plugged in and hits something else on the tabletop, it could accidentally turn on. In general, we liked the unit and now we drink sake often and at a comfortable temperature!
