04Aug21: The D/A converter arrived today. I pulled the optical audio cable that carries audio between the TV and the stereo from the stereo and plugged it into this converter. I was able to connect the Sony wireless headphone base transmitter to the converter and hear the TV sound through the headphones. I bought Sony wireless headphones to hear the TV more clearly, but the only headphone jack on the TV mutes the TV sound. external speakers when connecting the headphone jack. So using the optical audio signal coming out of the TV into the converter to the base for the wireless headphones worked well. My wife can adjust the volume of the TV's external speaker to her liking and I can set up the wireless connection. The headphone volume was fine for me. I give five stars for the overall rating and five stars for the sound quality. I'm not a music lover and I'm losing most of my hearing, so I have moderate sound quality standards. I didn't appreciate the volume control as this converter doesn't have the ability to adjust the volume. That would be stupid since the converter is next to the TV and I wear headphones all over the house. The quality of the material is not appreciated. The device works. If the device fails I will come back and change this review.
