Review on πŸ”Œ Get High-Speed 16GB SAMKE USB Flash Drive with 5X Swivel Memory Sticks - Thumb Drives with LED Indicator, Available in Black, Blue, Red, White, and Green by Sandro Pierce

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Write 8MB/s, read 19MB/s. Inexpensive and you get what you pay for.

Update August 18, 2021: One of these has already died and won't mount in Windows anymore. The USB beep sounds, the flash drive LED blinks, but no drive letter is displayed. Dead. I deduct two stars. I usually buy tiny Sandisk Cruzer sticks that barely protrude from the USB port. Then I order the lace ribbons separately. My attention was drawn to this set of five different colors with matching straps. The color of the flash drives makes it easy to separate them from multiple USB sticks of the same color with (hopefully) different colored ribbons. All five with straps cost about what I usually pay for a Sandisk, so you get what you pay for. The processing quality is decent, but with some you can see a torn seam on the side (visible gap). The straps feel good and the flip case feels good. There is a small hole for the activity light to flash, but you can see it through the gap. It's not a high-end flash drive and you shouldn't expect it to come at such a bargain price. When I first got them, I ran a speed test using the AJA System Utility. It reported write speeds of 8MB/s and read speeds of 19MB/s. (This was on a USB 3.x hub testing an external SSD at 350MB/s, so the hub and connection are running at full speed.) I then used Windows to format all the drives and "quick format ' disabled to allow some practice with flash memory. I ran the tests again and saw a consistent write speed of 8MB/s but a faster read speed of 20MB/s across three drives. Two never showed more than 19 MB/s when reading. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I ran the tests three times, and two parts consistently showed lower speeds. I have much faster flash drives and I have much slower ones. The main downside to this is how cheap the case seems (because they are cheap). Because of this, I'm giving them a rating based on that price. If they cost $10 each I would rate them a lot lower. Keep this in mind. I don't know how reliable they are (a few flash drives have died in the last decade) but they're cheap and great for everyday use, especially when you might not be able to buy them. back after giving them to someone to copy the files.
