Four stars for the company. Three stars for the toy.

In general, this is a good inexpensive toy. Not as bad as the Dollar Store, but not top notch either. It's essentially a blown out plastic fish with a very small screw that screws into the fish's mouth. The plastic shaft slides out and has a fairly strong thick filament with a ridge attached to the base to hold a tiny little magnet. Overall I thought it was good for the price. I bought it for my 2 and 10 month old boys. They liked it. However, they have older siblings, and those siblings also enjoyed it. It was an intriguing game to sit some distance away and try to catch all the fish with one rod. So fishing fever reigned for two or three days. You didn't just fish with him. The girls used it for their kitchen set as part of their menu (nothing like fried plastic fish mmmmm. Yummy!). At my house, however, it only lasted about 3 days. The poles went first. You were the weakest link. The small magnet at the end is loose. It was so small that I never saw her again. Etc. I've scattered a few more fish around the house. The company was great and offered a refund or replacement. So five for the company. But my kids would do the same with a different set, so don't spend any money. They really liked it and we still have a few characters that everyone plays with for $13, which isn't bad. I pay more for a visit to the children's museum.
