I had an old XBox Arcade console that got caught in a thunderstorm and lost its HDMI port and network connection. I tried to squeeze a few more months out by buying a wireless network adapter and component cable. I couldn't get the wireless adapter to work because the XBox kept thinking it had a network cable plugged in when there wasn't one. Although the video was acceptable, the internal fan got louder and louder and I knew the ship was sinking. Eventually I broke down and bought this new XBox. I bought an empty hard drive case because I wanted to use the drive from my old computer. I took apart the old drive case and put it in the one I bought and it works great. Surely you could do that with a new 2.5 inch hard drive. If you can get these hard drive XBoxes cheap, you can definitely save some money with a little work, which you can find guides for online. The new XBox works great and now I have a different controller. He has wired and wireless internet that worked as soon as I connected him to Wi-Fi. I'm back on XBox Live playing on a silent XBox!
