Review on 🔘 Syba SD-PEX50055: High-Speed 2 Port USB 3.0 and 2 Port SATA III PCIe 2.0 x4 Controller Card – Green Grey by Larry Boyd

I bought this card specifically to connect a DVD player to an old Dell OptiPlex 390 running Ubuntu MATE 20.04. Nowhere in the product description does it say that this card is not ATAPI compliant! When a CD/DVD/BLU-RAY drive is connected to this card, the computer will not boot. Only hard disks can be connected to this card! This card also does not transmit any switch-off commands to connected USB devices. So if you try to put your computer to sleep or hibernate, it won't work if something is plugged into the card's USB ports. This card uses the Asmedia 1061 chipset, which is known to be buggy and incompatible with ATAPI drives. I wish I had known that before I bought it. Unfortunately, there are no other USB-SATA combo cards that are suitable for a low-profile computer like the OptiPlex series. Attention Linux users!
