I am using these in a 2021 RAV4 with restricted access and a luggage bag. If the T-hooks are mounted vertically as suggested, the tailgate can be used without any problems. However, I found the T-hooks popped out easily when riding with a luggage net full of groceries. I went to Ace Hardware and bought a pair of black neoprene washers that were 1" in diameter and 1/8" thick for $1.50. They were installed on each THook Rack before the T-Hook Rack was inserted into the hole. The addition of a neoprene washer strengthened the connection. and the T-hooks never fell out again. So after adding neoprene washers I was perfectly happy with the mesh. But I shouldn't have done it.
