Review on Retro Bit Official Controller 8 Button Raspberry by John Bailey

For those of us who remember Sega Genesis, the release of the six-button controller literally changed the game. The old three-button controller wasn't designed to advance in fighting games (e.g. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Eternal Champion) and this controller came to the rescue. I'm happy to report that this is an exact replica of the original controller. Feel, weight and balance are almost the same as almost 25 years ago. Years later this controller is still impressive, and the USB interface means you can use it for new retro PC games like Bloodstained. Unless something changes before September, we can also use this controller with the upcoming Sega Genesis Mini. The Mini has games that benefit from a six-button controller, but it comes with two three-button controllers instead (the Japanese version of the Mini comes with two six-button controllers — get it). This controller can help fill the gap. On the one hand, I love the idea of playing old Genesis games with the authentic three-button controller that was released at launch, but it's good to know I have a six-button option if I want to! If you pre-ordered the Genesis Mini in the US or plan to pick it up later, this controller is a must-have.
