My problems solved

I bought this unit to connect my new 2019 65 inch LG TV to a ten year old analogue sound system. I was thinking about buying a new digital sound system or even a soundbar. But my huge Yamaha speakers (circa 1978) and my 25 year old Harmon Kardon receiver sound like a much better system than the latest digital models I've tried at Best Buy and Costco! So this device, which uses RCA cables, seemed like the perfect solution and I'm happy to report that it's working well after a few weeks of use. I first tried another device that used the TV's HDMI output, but had problems with loud popping noises. I also didn't like the annoying LED lighting on this unit, the lack of a volume control, and the inability to play the TV's internal audio at the same time as my stereo. After the return I bought this Avantree DAC. It uses the TV's optical output (as recommended by LG tech support) and none of the issues I had with the HDMI device are present. The only problem I have is that the Avantree headphone jack distorts the sound in my headphones. However, that doesn't bother me in my case as I use the receiver's headphone jack instead and the sound from it is perfect. Another issue is that while I'm getting sound from my two main speakers and the subwoofer, I'm not getting sound from my other surround speakers. So I like to turn on the TV's internal audio at the same time to give the overall volume a stronger stereo effect and improve room filling.
