Review on 📱 Nite Ize STF-01-R7 Steelie FreeMount Bracket - Enhancing Steelie Magnetic Phone Mounting Systems Black - Add-on FreeMount by Jacob Rasmussen

First off, I love Nite Ize products and the Steelie line in general. Most of these products work perfectly. The only exception was FreeMount. I actually bought 2 (1 for my car, one for travel) as my phone has Qi wireless charging. My wife's iPhone doesn't work so she doesn't usually use FreeMounts and has a steelie on the back of her phone case. I planned on keeping one FreeMount in my travel bag and the other in the car. I've experienced failures about every 4-6 months with my everyday mount, so my stock FreeMount needs to work while I wait for a replacement. The problem is not entirely clear, but it is clear that the ratchet lock does not work after a while. I think the problem is the rather thin plastic cover held in place by 4 small screws. It feels a bit too flexible and potentially allows the device to lean away from the phone with repeated use, allowing for gear changes. Regardless of the reason, FreeMounts rarely last more than 6-9 months. And this is not due to careless, rough handling or excessive use of force. Here's the real problem: up until September 2018, the Nite Ize was a good replacement. Now I get "Man, I'm sorry, we'll bring this to you in a moment!" - or "Crickets". No Answer. More importantly, NO REPLACEMENT FOR THREE MONTHS. Very disappointing. I do not recommend you to buy this item. STAY AWAY!
