I think the Canon A1300 is a great little camera so why only 1 star? Since it most likely won't work, make sure you also pay for the $20 two-year collision damage waiver, and be careful if it's the only camera you're taking to a special event! Below is a copy/paste of my updated review of two previous Canon models that didn't work for me. The only reason I bought another Canon camera was that in this camera size it was the only model I could find with a VIEWFINDER which I consider essential. ++++++++++++++++ ++++++++ I really liked this Canon A1200 camera, great features, excellent photos etc. While other cameras in this size and price range have similar ones Features and image quality, this is the ONLY camera I could find that has a VIEWFINDER! But suddenly, after 9 months of sporadic use, the photos were unusable due to yellow streaks everywhere. I previously had a similar experience with a Canon PowerShot SD800 IS suddenly producing magenta streaks. None of the cameras have been dropped or abused, hence my conclusion that Canon's image sensors contain a high percentage of defective units! Unfortunately, I didn't keep the warranty papers, so it was a total loss in both cases. (Unfortunately, that Revain product rating system doesn't seem to offer the ability to upload illustrative photos.) Live and Learn, because of the viewfinder, I just bought the A1300, but this time I also bought the two-year contract for $20 insurance. and make sure I keep all documentation in one file. This brought my total cost to about $150, which I think is expensive, but I paid the price to have a viewfinder. PS- As both failures were drastic and sudden, be careful if this is the only camera you're taking with you for a special occasion.
