The size is perfect for my fridge. The lid/spout has a large open "slot" and another opening with "grates" to keep fruit or ice out of your glass. The problem is that when you close the lid, no matter how it's positioned, liquid will leak out from under the bottom of the lid and thus splash all over the counter, not just into the jar. It is also not possible to shake it off without splashing, even when the slots are "closed" and the lid is held in place. I take the lid off every time I pour.
