I have been needing to replace my BBQ thermometer for a while and chose this model because it has a built in sensor and a second detachable wired sensor. This device worked well for checking temperatures while grilling and I used it to check if the meat had reached room temperature (after being taken out of the freezer) to start cooking. The device is comfortable to hold, and the magnet allows it to be attached to a cool grille, although I haven't had to do that yet because. I have a shelf. The display backlight is bright. Overall, this is a great addition to my grilling supplies.
