Review on Mouse A4Tech X-718BK, black by Mateusz Wycech ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is top notch, be sure to try it.

The real resolution of the sensor does not correspond to the specified (interpolated value), but still quite high. According to reviews, all X7 mice have a very painful wheel mechanism, which is treated by prophylactic instillation of silicone or other lubricant into its insides. I dripped right after the purchase, there were no problems yet (mice for about a year), so I won’t put it in shortcomings. Some complain about the thick cord on later revisions, but this did not cause me any inconvenience, but compared to the early ones, it does not bend or fray. The reliability of the X7 series is high, both compared to mice from other manufacturers in this price category (some of which do not live even a month), and with many modern A4 non-gaming models. The coating wears out over time, but after a year it is hardly noticeable, I expected much worse. According to the forums, there are "white" and "gray" parties that differ in the color of the legs (the "white" party has white, the "gray" party has black). There is no difference in quality, but the "white" versions have instructions in 2022 and they are immediately programmed, while the "gray" unprogrammed ones reset the settings with each session, while using the software supplied on the disk (it is important to use this particular version, the version from the site may not fit) they cannot be uploaded to the mouse (a one-time procedure with the possibility of reprogramming), which will surely confuse the user who is used to plug-and-play. By the way, like my first X-710 mouse, which lived 3 years before the wire was worn out (and now works after replacement), the current X-718 is of a "gray" batch. Most of the described features, including those of batches and revisions, apply to other mice in the series, many of which differ only in the sensor (for example, x-710).

Pros
  • Great Ergonomics: A good mouse is an inconspicuous extension of the hand and it suits it. Unification with other mice of the X7 series (interchangeability of parts), high-precision sensor, high response speed, relatively high reliability, price / quality ratio unattainable for other manufacturers. In the new revisions, compared to the old ones, the wheel and coating are more hygienic, there is no gum under the thumb, which collected dirt.
Cons
  • In the new revisions, the coating is not as dirty as in the old ones, but it contributes to sweating of the hands. A large gap between the glossy inserts (actually, the insert is the top of the mouse, and the glossy stripes refer to its substrate) contributes to the accumulation of dust. At first, the pungent smell of plastic, spreading to the hands.
