Sound familiar? These are people who don't adjust the equalizer or don't know how to do it. Tune something to fit your ears and you'll maintain its overall sonic signature while solving some of its problems. Are they a little hard and medium? Yes. It's her business. Roll off your highest frequencies (in the range above 20K) and roll off your mids a bit and they sound good. Crank up the bass to shake your head a little and you still won't drown them out, introduce distortion, or mess up anything. These headphones REALLY love EQs. Will the source of the sound matter? Yes. Of course it will be. A sound card (I use an Audigy Rx) or a separate DAC will of course sound better than using the onboard audio. But they will still sound good. My only real issue with them is how tightly they pinch your head. You're not going anywhere. Positive for someone, a bit annoying for people who wear glasses (like me).
