This device replaces several components I bought that I no longer need - and didn't have to buy first: 1. HDMI USB-c port for my external monitor. Even the other hub I bought wasn't powerful enough to drive the monitor so I had to buy a separate cable. I no longer need it as it is powerful enough to connect an external monitor to all other devices. Custom cable to connect my headphones to Macbook Pro 2019 to convert from TRS to TRRS. The headphone jack works great3. Ethernet to USB-c for network connection. Reinstalled in this unit and working fine at 1GBI, also connected are: - External Time Machine backup hard drive - Logitech webcam. Finally, my old little hub had a very short cord, leaving it dangling in mid-air while my elevated laptop put pressure on the USB-C connection. With this longer cable I can now hide everything behind my monitor which means: 1. A MUCH cleaner desk with cables now invisible2. ONE USB-c cable to Macbook that seamlessly transfers all peripherals mentioned above. So far it's working great and I'm happy with my purchase. I can get a second one for my basement recording setup.
