Suffice it to say I'm officially "old". My first gaming system was an Atari console which I twiddled with for hours and found it fun. "Pong" was considered high-tech in the Middle Ages. Thankfully, we've moved a few light years from the games' infancy, and turning a knob is now only used to open doors. In my 50 years on the planet, I've played many other gaming systems, both handheld and console. Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, Xbox and anything else I could find. I have also used over 20 headsets for various applications, half of which had a built in microphone. Sony, Apple, Bose, Creative Sound Blaster and others. It has been many years since I have used Turtle Beach branded headphones. ------------------------------ ---- I bought an XBox One system over the holidays in a bundle that included an Xbox Gold membership. I also got an annual subscription to an EA Sports membership. I am currently obsessed with the MUT 18. Enter the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Amp Wired Gaming Headphones. -------------------------------------------------- ------ -☆ Overview ☆ I charged the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Amplified Gaming Headset for approximately 3.5 hours using the included cable (to USB) from a dead battery upon arrival. I then plugged my headphones into the 3.5mm port on the bottom of the Xbox Wireless Controller. I turned on the headphones with the slide switch and the green light came on to indicate they were on. Before switching to the Xbox input, I made sure the microphone volume and master volume sliders were set to low. A NOTICE. There is also a PS4 entry. 👍 That's what I liked about the Recon 200. ➤ The build quality is good. ➤ The 40mm over-ear drivers give my ears more than enough power without distortion. The amplified sound can be adjusted both in the headphones via the volume control and in certain settings of your system.➤ They are compatible with Xbox One, PS4 and PS4 Pro and work together with Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile devices (tablets and smartphones) one connector for 3.5mm Headphones ➤ Reliable performance and not super expensive. ➤ While they weren't "noise cancellers," they certainly blocked outside noise in my house with very little bleed, allowing others in the room to hear. It was great when I was watching an action movie on Netflix at 1am and didn't want to wake my family but still wanted to hear the 'rumble' in the movie! ➤ The high-sensitivity microphone worked great - super clear - with volume. The controls are easy to use and the feature that lets you flip it over to mute the sound works as expected. The ability to easily adjust the mic volume and hear my own voice worked well. No screams! ➤ The earbuds covered my ears and were not uncomfortable to wear for short periods of less than 1 hour. ➤ A cable length of about 4 feet is suitable for the controller. Charging time 10-12 hours. ➤ Volume controls for general adjustment and microphone adjustment are easy to use. ➤ The included quick start guide is easy to understand and Turtle Beach support information is clearly listed on the box. ➤ 1 year warranty from the date of purchase to cover any defects. ----------------🧐 What I would have liked about this product would be better. hour of use. Can I or the headphones adjust (softer) with prolonged use? Hopefully!♦︎ Recon 200 support information is not yet available on the Turtle Beach website. I went there to check how to adjust volume via Xbox settings and found it but under a different model. ♦︎ I have a fairly large head and these headphones fit me without pinching. Some tall guys might find them too tight, although the metal-reinforced headband is adjustable. ♦︎ Although the bass output appears to be good, there is no adjustment on these phones to refine the "bass boost". However, some devices (e.g. iPhone) allow you to adjust the bass in their settings.------------------------------ ------------------ -- ----------------☆ Conclusion ☆ I really like the Recon 200 and think it's a great one Choice for the gamer on a budget. Whether you're looking for immersive entertainment or want to chat with gamers at a LAN party, these wired headphones are a great deal. ---------- ----------------------------------------- 🛠 Sound adjustment may be required 🛠 On first use On these With headphones, you may find that the volume is too low even at the phone's highest settings. Your gaming system or PC has special "headphones" or "audio" settings that may need to be adjusted in order for these headphones to give you the desired volume. In fact, after turning my Xbox headphone audio settings to maximum, I had to lower the maximum volume on my headset because it was too loud for me. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------
