I have several of these latches. I have a small farm and they stand at the gate for my goats. Goats can open standard gravity locks and slide locks, but their lack of thumbs prevent them from twisting them. quite easy. For the second handle you need to drill a hole in the gate/door. Finding the hole is pretty easy, and you can drill it pretty big since the latch will cover a lot more than the 1/2 inch hole they need. The kit includes a latch to hold the door open on the wall - a nice addition and very useful to me. As I mentioned, I have several of these and try to buy them when I see them on sale. I would recommend them to anyone who wants an easy to use deadbolt that holds the gate firmly but can be operated from the other side.
