I bought this from Cyber_Geek, they sent me Priority Mail from New York. This router/gateway was used to replace a Verizon Actiontec router which was working fine but is only a 2.4GHz WiFi router. This used router had very minor abrasions and was missing the HAN cover on the back of the router. This does not affect the operation of the router, this is a blemish. It had a label that said "Tested and Working". After releasing the broadband/coax IP address in Actiontec (you need to be logged into Actiontec to do this) I turned Actiontec off so the IP address wouldn't update before plugging in this Verizon G1100. I then connected the cables to the G1100 and turned it on. After 5-10 minutes I was able to login to the G1100 from a connected PC without any problems. I was able to use the Verizon My FiOS app to log into the router remotely, which is not possible with an Actiontec router. This used router is for business use and not for home use. It works with digital phones and wireless building thermostats, cameras, printers, PCs and STBs. I've been using it for over a week and still have NO problems with this router/gateway. I'm getting more speed than Actiontec, I'm aiming for 5-6 megabytes more. The coverage area of this router is the same. I didn't see any improvement as it has to cover two buildings and the walls are quite thick. The 2.4GHz band is used more heavily here due to the distance the signal has to travel. I would make sure that if you buy a used router and use it with the Verizon service, you stick with the Verizon firmware already installed on the router. I know how to solve technical problems, but I wouldn't advise starting with the wrong brand of firmware. You will also see any old devices that the router was connected to in a previous life. To remove them you need to assign a static IP to each of them and then remove them. There is no easy way to remove them in the router's GUI, but leaving them will not harm the router in any way. Update: Verizon's new firmware now makes it easy to remove old devices. The router continues to function without problems. February 2021
