I raise animals for our local animal welfare organization. So when we adopted a mother Golden Retriever and her three one-day-old puppies for a few months, I knew we had to keep them, some bullshit! (We also have two dogs of our own and had to separate them for health reasons.) I purchased two sets of this enclosure and explained my "vision" of our makeshift enclosure to my husband who built it. We've added a 2x4 around the perimeter to keep mom (and eventually puppies) from knocking it over, as well as lower padding on one end for the pee area. I applied a few coats of linoleum to protect our hardwood floors and we tied it all together with rope to make it more durable. It worked great! Now I'm ready to recreate a smaller version of the mother Chihuahua we are raising with her five little puppies. Excellent investment! I've had no issues with sharp edges or pinched paws - in fact the last mom dog we often climbed out of the paddock when she got bored with the puppies - I made her taller with a cheaper railing on top but she never let that dissuade and , fortunately never offended.
