Although my new Dodge has a rubber seal around the fuel filler door, I chose this to allow ice, water, dirt, dust to get into the filler neck and the pump to push it into the fuel tank. A diesel does not like any of these pollutants! I just think it's an extra precaution. I would recommend this to all Ram diesel owners with a new filler neck. In addition, the magnet can be hung on a loop on the underside and stays there while refueling. It also comes with an extra O-ring. It's a beautiful glossy anodized lime green that almost glows in the dark.
