It works, but I find it a little scratchier than I'm used to. I'm not sure about the material but it's definitely a denser resin base making it a lot less soft than other loofahs I've used. Update: I have to revise my original 3 star review. This thing completely changed my bathing habits. I used to put on a decent amount of deodorant because it always smelled like musk. With this piece, that musky smell went away, so I started using less deodorant. This way I have fewer deodorant stains on my shirt and it takes a lot more effort to actually smell it. I also had fairly constant bumps on my back and ribs. No pimples and not visible to the naked eye but maybe an ingrown hair or something I could feel. Now they don't exist at all. I hope this stays in production as I will buy another one if the need arises.
