That's exactly what we were hoping for. I've read other reviews worried about durability, this is a solid piece of furniture although it's probably best to make sure it withstands the accountant for safety, we haven't had any issues or concerns about it being mid-way of the floor. while our sons are there. My only complaint is that now that we have one and see how much our toddler loves helping out in the kitchen, I wish we had an adjustable one so he can use it as he grows. He is an average size at 20 months and is good growth for him now. He could probably gain a few inches and still be very comfortable on it. I think we'll see how long it takes him to grow out of this.
