Review on GENTEX GENK40A Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror: Enhance Your Driving Visibility by Paul Randall

I was hoping to get this stylish mirror for the Prius Prime I just bought but it wasn't an option on the XLE (mid-range) model I ended up buying . It would cost around $1000 to buy and install this stylish mirror from the dealer, so I found the GENK40A hoping it would fit. It turned out to be relatively easy to install and works absolutely perfectly. To install, I removed the ceiling cap and stock rear view mirror and installed a new mirror (easy). It's important to note that I had to cut out part of the mirror cover with a Dremel tool to allow the GENK40A enough upward movement for me to have a reasonable line of sight from the rear window. (If you're very tall, getting enough vertical clearance can be a problem.) I then routed the GENK40A wire along the left sidebar (trying to stay behind the airbag) and down to the fuse box under the left sidebar. Side dash where I connected the wires to the fuse on the 12v socket. It took a few tries to connect HomeLink to my fairly old garage door opener, but it worked in the end. Couldn't be happier!
