Review on πŸ“Ά Renewed TP-Link RE450 AC1750 WiFi Range Extender with High Speed Mode and Intelligent Signal Indicator by Eddie Breezy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Used as a bridge for other computers connected to the local network.

. I use it to connect two wired gigabit LANs over a pure 5 GHz WLAN band. I disabled extended WiFi so this is just a WiFi bridge to my main TP-Link Archer C1200 router. My main router is about 30 feet away across 3 or 4 walls in a straight line and the signal quality status shows my connection as 'Strong'. My ping to the RE450 over WiFi is between 1ms and 3ms. My Archer C1200 can send around 500Mbps to the RE450 and the RE450 can send around 300Mbps to my router. You can see in the first attached photo that the green RE450 is transmitting and the red RE450 is receiving when I transfer a file from PC to PC via the WiFi bridge. I don't know why it transmits slower than my router, but I suspect it's because my router has "beamforming" technology that can direct the signal to where it's needed, unlike the RE450 , which only transmits the signal in all directions. 500 Mbps reception is acceptable. Because really all I'm trying to achieve is to get as close to wired gigabit speeds as possible without actually using Cat5 cables. And about half the speed will work for me as I used to have a max speed of 90Mbps since I only had 100Mbps wired ports. faster speed than just plugging straight into my wall just 1ft off the ground. I love all the advanced options and even being able to turn off the wifi repeater feature is perfect for me. I also like that the DHCP server has an "Auto" setting that can disable itself if it already finds a DHCP server on your network. The 2nd attached photo shows the difference between the power settings. They call it "Wi-Fi coverage". Settings: Max, Mid and Min. This really affected the transfer speed as can be seen in the photo. In general, this is what I expected, even if the transmission is a little slower than the reception. But for me the reception is more important than its transmission, which is why I bought it.
