What did I use it for? I received this toothbrush to replace my old Oral-B Pro 1000 toothbrush which I have been using for about 5 years. Original quality? the old Oral-B 1000 cost about $40. This iO Series 8 toothbrush costs around $250. I can say that the quality of the iO Series 8 is a huge improvement over my old 1000 model. Is the quality five times better than the price suggests? I would not go so far. What I like? 1. The power and intensity of this iO Series 8 is way better than my old 1000 model. Check out my video for a quick comparison.2. It's nice to have a screen where you can visually see what mode you're in, as well as the battery percentage.3. The travel case is handy, but you have to detach the head to mount your toothbrush. What I do not like? 1. I have an Android phone so it may matter if you have an iPhone, but I can't sync my toothbrush with the Oral-B app. I also tried after the last app update but it doesn't sync. I can see the toothbrush in my Bluetooth settings but when I click to pair it asks for a pairing code which I don't know and couldn't find in the instructions. 2. When you place your toothbrush on the charger, it can tip over very easily as it is only held in place by small magnets. My old Oral-B Pro 1000 had a small protrusion to slide your toothbrush onto and sat much more securely on the charger than this new iO Series 8. What don't I care? 1. The light ring indicator is a kind of trick. It's cool to know if you're using the correct pressure when brushing, but I've found that I always use the correct pressure since the green light is on for me almost all the time. If you tend to push too much, the light can be more useful for you.2. Different brushing modes are also kind of a trick. You can easily get by with just high and low brushing modes instead of, say, the whitening mode, which simply pulses between high and low intensity.3. The battery life of the iO Series 8 is said to be better than the Pro 1000. To be honest, I can't say that I noticed a difference when comparing the iO to when my Pro 1000 was new. Is the price justified? To be honest I can't say I would recommend this $250 toothbrush. While I haven't tried the Genius series or the Smart series from the Oral-B line of toothbrushes, I think I would go for either. The Genius 8000 saves about $100 over the iO series. Overall I really like the iO Series 8 but I don't think I would buy it for $250. If my opinion changes in the future I will update this review.
