A CHARMING ghost - the best I've ever seen! - and 40 pieces for each block? Yes! Cuts out a lot of small pieces, so get ready! I made this over several evenings, labeling each piece according to the instructions (MUST!) and putting all the pieces in an envelope for each block - 16 blocks, 16 envelopes marked and ready to sew! Now that I've cut out the blocks I can tell you that the pattern definitely overestimated the amount of fabric needed to make the blocks! It may be FQ friendly, but FQ is way too much stuff for any mind! 1 FQ can make at least 2 ghosts, So either buy (or stash) 8 FQ and make 2 identical blocks (or vice versa) or buy 1/8 yard of fabric per ghost for different fabrics, colors and patterns. In the template you buy 4.25 yards of fabric for the background/waistband/border, which is at least twice as much as you need if you first cut the waistband and borders and trim them to the length of the fabric so there aren't any are seams in the waistband or at the edges. I cut a 58" piece of fabric, ripped the edges and on the remaining 41" width I was able to rip all 4 hems (6.5" so I could trim them down to 6") and 3 vertical hems ( 2.5". "wide and cut to 1.75", and it still had a piece that measured 8" wide and 58" long. Let's see, how much of this I need for the background of the blocks, and a 3" WOF strip for the horizontal band may be needed. but that means I have 2.5 yards of extra fabric left over for the border/belt/backing. whoops This is the biggest fabric overhaul I've ever seen on a pattern (quilt or garment). In terms of cost, that's an overrun of $30 for FQ when I didn't need anywhere near that amount of fabric, and an overrun of $30 for background fabric, which I don't need either. In general, you can use 2 Boo! Quilts if you buy the whole fabric the pattern will tell you to buy :-o All in all it is the guide for making each boo! And the diagram of how to sew things together AND how to iron the seams is great. Allow about 1.5 hours of sewing time to make each block. Just take your time and sew neat 1/4 inch seams, follow the directions and you'll have a bunch of adorable boo-babies : -D That's an extra $30 to spend on FQ if I don't have nearly that much fabric needed, and $30 more for background fabrics, which I also don't need.
