I have a 1988 Nova, mostly a Corolla. It only has 40,000 miles so I try to keep it spotless. Replaced the covers with bucket seats which lasted 20 years (that's how I made my living). :-) They were very easy to install. Remove the headrest, put the seatback on, attach it to the lower seat, wrap the headrest around and put it back on. I bought two navy blue bath towels for the back seat. The old ones also protected the seats. Yes, they're not expensive, but the ones I bought 20 years ago weren't expensive either. When I change a dog, I just throw in an old bath towel to protect him. This way you never have to take them off and wash them.
